Embassy of Sri Lanka Showcases Cultural Heritage in Seoul – “Pulse of Sri Lanka”

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Republic of Korea hosted “Pulse of Sri Lanka – A Celebration of Dance and Heritage” on 5 June 2026 at the Kkumbit Theater, Seongbuk Media Culture Maru, Seoul, presenting a vibrant showcase of Sri Lanka’s cultural traditions to an international audience.

The event drew nearly 250 guests, including Ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of international organizations, Korean society, foreign residents, and the Sri Lankan community. Performances were presented by the Ranga Gamage Dancing Academy, arranged with the support of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism. The troupe highlighted Kandyan and Low Country dance traditions, concluding with a fusion of Sri Lankan dance and K-Pop music that captivated the audience.

Under the theme Pulse of Sri Lanka, the programme celebrated the island’s music, dance, ritual, and community life. Guests also engaged in an interactive segment exploring Sri Lanka’s history, culture, and tourism attractions.

The event was held in parallel with Sri Lanka’s strong participation at the 41st Seoul International Travel Fair (SITF) 2026, attended by Hon. Prof. Ruwan Ranasinghe, Deputy Minister of Tourism, and the Sri Lankan delegation. Sri Lanka was honoured with four major awards, including the prestigious 2026 SITF Eminent Tourism Pioneer Award presented to the Deputy Minister.

The Embassy extended appreciation to the Seongbuk Cultural Foundation for its cooperation, which contributed to the successful presentation of Sri Lankan culture in Korea. The programme reinforced the Embassy’s ongoing efforts to promote Sri Lanka’s heritage and strengthen people-to-people exchanges between the two nations.

The Embassy also acknowledged the dedicated coordination of Ms. Thanuja Muniweera, Deputy Director and Market Office for South Korea, whose efforts ensured the success of the event.
