Sri Lanka Strengthens Tourism Diplomacy at the 11th Sichuan International Tourism Trade Fair

Sri Lanka reaffirmed its commitment to deepening tourism and cultural ties with China as Hon. Prof. Ruwan Ranasinghe, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism, participated as Guest of Honor at the 11th Sichuan International Tourism Trade Fair and the official launch of the 2025 "Sichuan Tianfu" Cultural and Tourism Consumption Season.

The prestigious event brought together senior officials, distinguished guests, and high-profile trade personalities from across the region, reflecting its significance in fostering international tourism collaboration.

Prof. Ranasinghe’s presence underscored Sri Lanka’s commitment to strengthening its tourism ties with China, particularly under the One Belt, One Road initiative and the growing strategic partnership between Sri Lanka and Sichuan Province.

During the opening ceremony, Prof. Ranasinghe joined fellow dignitaries in inaugurating the cultural and tourism season, which introduced innovative tourism products, immersive experiences, and promising investment opportunities in Sichuan. Several cross-border agreements and project signings took place, reflecting a shared vision for deeper tourism cooperation across the region.

Throughout his visit, Prof. Ranasinghe engaged with key stakeholders to promote Sri Lanka as a premier destination for Chinese travelers, emphasizing the importance of enhancing people-to-people and business-to-business connections through platforms like the Sichuan Travel Expo.

The trade fair featured vibrant cultural showcases, tourism investment forums, and exhibitions highlighting Sichuan’s scenic beauty, heritage, and innovations in the tourism sector.

Following the event, Prof. Ranasinghe remarked:

"Sri Lanka is honored to take part in this distinguished platform. Our presence here reinforces our commitment to strengthening Sri Lanka-China tourism collaboration, showcasing our island’s natural beauty, wellness tourism, rich heritage, and warm hospitality to the Chinese market."

The Media Unit of the Deputy Minister of Tourism extended its sincere appreciation to the Leshan Municipal Government, Sichuan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and the event organizers for their warm hospitality and recognition of Sri Lanka as a valued tourism partner in the Asia-Pacific region.
