Launch of “Sathkaraye Shrama Sena – Hotel Operations Multitasker Program”

The Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management (SLITHM), in collaboration with the Department of Samurdi Development, proudly announces the launch of the “Sathkaraye Shrama Sena – Hotel Operations Multitasker Program.”

This pioneering initiative is built on a strong Public–Private Partnership (PPP) model, bringing together the expertise of government institutions, private training providers, and industry stakeholders. The program is specially designed to develop the essential skills of the younger generation, preparing them as multi-skilled professionals to serve the fast-growing SME establishments in Sri Lanka’s tourism and hospitality sector.

Currently, 35 franchise institutes covering all districts have joined hands with SLITHM under this program, ensuring wide access to training opportunities for youth across the country.

Key Highlights of the Program

  • Public–Private Partnership model – combining government support with private sector innovation to maximize reach and quality.
  • NVQ Level 3 Certification – nationally recognized qualification upon successful completion.
  • On-the-job training opportunities – direct exposure to industry practices.
  • Nationwide promotion campaign – to encourage youth participation and awareness.

Official Launching Ceremony

The official launch of the Sathkaraye Shrama Sena – Hotel Operations Multitasker Program will take place on 03rd September 2025 , 10.00 am at the SLITHM Main Auditorium. The event will be graced by the presence of:

  • Hon. Vijitha Herath, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment & Tourism
  • Hon. Dr. Upali Pannilage, Minister of Rural Development, Social Security & Community Empowerment

 

Through this initiative, SLITHM and the Department of Samudri Development reaffirm their commitment to advancing Sri Lanka’s tourism industry, while also creating sustainable employment opportunities and empowering the nation’s youth.
