Total revenue on tourism cross $1.7 billion
In the back drop of Sri Lanka Tourism crossing a $1.7 billion dollars as at end August 2015 at a growth of 17.1% overtaking the Total Tea Revenue of 2014, Sri Lanka Tourism ventured into the Japanese market with Sri Lanka taking center stage at the in Yamaguchi , Japan. The event attracted 33,838 participants from 143 countries where the Sri Lankan contingent show cased the country on the theme " 8 wonderful experiences in 8 wonderful days" which was very well received given the diverse interest of the recipients said the Chief Scout Commissioner for Sri Lanka Prof. Nimal de Silva.

The Sri Lanka strong contingent included 116 members - 84 scouts, 6 officials and 26 International Service Team members under the leadership of the Chief Scout Commissioner Prof. Nimal de Silva, Deputy Chief Commissioner Mr Shiraz salih, International Commissioner Mr. Janaprith Fernando.
The theme of the Jamboree was meaning harmony , unity or togetherness was an ideal platform to highlight the unique Sri Lankan culture, heritage and diversity of The country voiced Chairman Sri Lanka Tourism Dr Rohantha Athukorala who will be leading a 30 member high profile private sector professionals for the annual JAATA travel exhibition later during the month that will include a road show in Tokyo he said.
The Sri Lankan Day was celebrated at the Jamboree with a typical Sri Lankan Food Festival whilst the culture was depicted with a colorful Perahera. The Prince of Japan together with the Prime Minister of Japan visited the Jamboree site as the Chief Guests on International Day whilst the Saudi Prince also visited the Jamboree that gave exposure to Sri Lanka said the communique from Sri Lanka Tourism Promotions Bureau.
