Sri Lanka Tourism to take part in WTM 2013, London

World Travel Market (WTM), the leading Travel and Tourism Trade event in the world is scheduled to kick off on 4th of November 2013 at the London’s, Excel Exhibition Hall. Having foreseen the unique opportunity to promote Sri Lanka as a renowned destination across key tourism markets, Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) has decided to take part in the event, along with 60 tourism industry partners.

During the event, SLTPB will take steps to conduct several promotional activities to highlight the country’s attractions to the global tourism audience under the title of ‘Wonder of Asia’. The campaign will highlight Sri Lanka’s ‘One Island – Thousand Experiences’ concept, which offers the traveler a complete round tour destination including the experience of Beaches, Heritage, wild life, Culture, Ayurveda, Festivals, Scenic Beauty and Adventure.

Sri Lanka Tourism’s stall at the London event will see its entrance designed in a way to highlight the Island’s ancient “Yapahuwa” palace thus showing the visitors a glimpse of what the country’s rich heritage sites will offer them when they travel to Sri Lanka.

As the host Nation for CHOGM 2013 ,Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau will also use the WTM promote the CHOGM event which will be held in mid-November in Colombo with all branding activities, seminars and other promotional activities highlighting the upcoming CHOGM.

WTM attracts more than 30,000 visitors, 5,000 trade partners (exhibitors) and over 3000 journalists around the world each year. More than 1000 travel agents, including over 200 tour operators, are also expected to attend this travel to market Sri Lanka’s booming industry of tourism.

Best Tour Operators Recognized in WTM 2013

Sri Lanka will also take steps to recognize the Tour Operators based in the UK, who helped to send the largest number of Tourists to Sri Lanka from UK. They will be recognized during the London, World Travel Market.

Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau has already selected the Best Tour Operators in the United Kingdom, who sent the most of number of tourists to the country during the period of November 2012 to November 2013.

Tourists arrivals from U.K to Sri Lanka is on a steady rise, as the country has received 90,714 tourists during the first nine months of this year, compared to visitors received during the same period of last year. This is a 11% year on year growth.

Sri Lankan High Commission in London is backing Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and the stakeholders, who are expected to take part in the on-going event.
