Sri Lanka Tourism Organized a Road Show in Yunnan Province of China

In line with China International Travel Mart(CITM) 2013,Sri Lanka has organized a tourism road show in Kunming of Yunnan Province highlighting its tourist destinations with eight themes to attract Chinese travelers and promote tourism in the country.

The show, organized by Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau in association with the Embassy of Sri Lanka in China on October 23,2013, in Kunming . The meeting was a great success with the participation of 13 tour operators from Sri Lanka and more than 80 representatives from tour and travel agencies, medical tourism in Kunming. H.E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka in China and Deputy Director General of Yunnan Province Tourism Development Commission and Managers from Sri Lankan Airlines in Guangzhou and Shanghai Offices also took part in the promotional event.

A One to One Meeting session was held before the main event followed by presentation from H.E. the Ambassador of Embassy of Sri Lanka in China Mr Ranjith Uyangoda and Mr Chen Zhen Long, Deputy Director General of Yunnan Tourism Development Commission. Ms Arunoda from Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau was presented as well. Sri Lanka Tourism resources and information of flights of Sri Lankan Airlines were shown to the participants by slides.

H.E. the Ambassador in his speech mentioned that Sri Lanka enjoy a peaceful environment and a friendly historical relationship with P.R. China. Sri Lanka has identified China as a market with highest potential, a series of promotional activities have already been planned to be executed in this market including the Bus Campaign and 03 Day Custom Awareness of Sri Lanka Tourism in the leading cities in China.

Mr.Chen Zhenlong,Deputy Director General of Yunan Province Tourism Development Commission in his presentation said in recent years Yunnan Province has actively engaged in cooperation with tourism circle of the world, especially South East Asia and Sri Lanka is one of them. Having visited Sri Lanka with a delegation in May 2013, Mr Zhen strongly recommended the agencies in Kunming to Promote Sri Lanka, the wonder of Asia. Meanwhile, he will extend the maximum support personally and officially for Sri Lanka Promotion in Yunnan Province.

The lunch was arranged followed by Presentation for the further communications among the industries and the interviews from the travel media to H.E. the Ambassador.

This year, Sri Lanka expects 60,000 tourists from China.
