On Monday, September 03, 2018 a Sri Lanka tourism delegation led by H.E. Karunasena Hettiarachchi, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Berlin, started a week-long road show through some of the leading economic cities in Germany: Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Munich.
The first stop of the road show was at the prestigious Park Hyatt Hotel in Germany where Ms. Madubhani Perera , Director Marketing if Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau gave a comprehensive and informative presentation of Sri Lanka as a leading island destination in the world to 53 attendees from leading tour operators, travel agents and media companies. The presentation and speeches by H.E. Hettiarachchi and the Honorable Consul of Sri Lanka for the States of Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein, Mr. Olav C. Ellerbrock was followed by a business networking event with 17 of the leading tourism companies and hotel groups in Sri Lanka.
The next stops of the road show in Germany will be Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Munich where the delegation will continue promoting its attractive tourism offers to leading German tour operators, travel agencies and the media. With more than 130,000 travelers in 2017 and a forecasted number of 140,000 travelers in 2018, Germany is one of the top international tourism source markets for Sri Lanka.
