Sri Lanka Tourism in collaboration with tourism industry stakeholders, Sri Lankan Airlines and the Sri Lankan Embassy in Thailand arranged a familiarization tour of Sri Lanka for 10 key travel agents from Thailand. The tour was arranged to coincide with the Kandy EsalaPerehara, in line with SLTPB’s strategy of promoting local events globally. The group was in Sri Lanka from 10th – 17th August and covered key tourist attractions including the cultural triangle.
A key highlight of the familiarization tour was the participation of over 50 local travel agents/hoteliers at the B2B networking session arranged by Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB). This networking session helped Sri Lankan travel agents and hoteliers to build long term business links with visiting Thai agents.

“There was good support from the industry for this fam. Thailand is considered as a potential market for Sri Lanka not only for Buddhism related activities but also for wild life, heritage and exploring of other scenic beauty of the country” said Chami Lanka Gasnawage, Assistant Director of SLTPB.
The event was a great collaborative effort as the airline tickets for the group was provided by Sri Lankan Airlines and transport was provided by Jetwing, both on FOC basis.
