On Monday 7 October the promotional events commenced in the fourth largest city of Ukraine Dnepropetrovsk. Dnipropetrovsk (Ukrainian)) or Dnepropetrovsk (Russian), formerly Yekaterinoslav is Ukraine’s's fourth largest city, with about one million inhabitants. It is located southeast of Ukraine's capital Kiev on the Dnieper River, in the south-central part of the country. Dnipropetrovsk is the administrative center of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.A vital industrial center of Ukraine, Dnipropetrovsk was one of the key centers of the nuclear, arms, and space industries of the Soviet Union. In particular, it is home to the Yuzhmash, a major space and ballistic missile design bureau and manufacturer. Because of its military industry, Dnipropetrovsk was a closed city until the 1990s.

During the day major promotional events were carried out in the shopping mall “Caravan”. Shopping center “Caravan” has greatly simplified the lives of the citizens and in one convenient location of the building you will find shops, cafes, restaurants, sports and entertainment venues. Shopping centers Dnepropetrovsk give people the opportunity to combine shopping with active rest in the family. During the 3 years of the SEC “Caravan" has won strong popularity among buyers. The shopping center in Dnepropetrovsk one can find a grocery hypermarket "Caravan», many cafes and restaurants of different price category most popular restaurant chains in the world and Ukraine.

During the shopping mall activation six sessions of dancing performance was conducted by the visiting Sri Lankan troupe covering thirty six items of traditional dancing, drum fusion; mask dancing, drum orchestra and medley of folk songs. In addition distribution of tea sachets, leaflets/souvenirs, tourism promotional videos and gift packs was also carried out. The liquid tea service arranged by the Embassy served more than one thousand visitors to the Sri Lankan stand.

As in previous cities the Ambassador, amidst his busy schedule, met the Mayor of the city Mr. Ivan I. Kulichenko at his office. Having exchanged pleasantries the two dignitaries had discussions on many issues with promotion of tourism industry being the lead topic.

The weekly e – news letter, “Ayubowan Sri Lanka” published by the Embassy is another medium of transmitting interesting news on travel and tourism of Sri Lanka to more than 5000 interested individuals, travel and tour operators and general public of Russia. The aim of the news letter is to provide customers with the latest developments in all spheres of tourism industry of Sri Lanka. The news letter which is published in both Russian and English languages carries articles of five main topics.
