The Day of Sri Lankan Culture in Kharkov

Thursday, 3 October 2013 was the second successful day in Kharkov. Today the main promotional events were carried out in the shopping mall “Caravan”. The modern shopping centers in Kharkov are chosen by the people, which would like to combine the useful activities with the pleasant ones. The Kharkov malls are intended for the real shopping fans understanding the sense of the beneficial shopping in Kharkov, for the people knowing the value of their time, the company of their friends and family. It is Karavan Megastore, the Kharkov mall, which can be justly considered as a famous shopping and entertainment center. It has already been making its visitors happy for 5 years. Among the Kharkov shopping centers Karavan mall is the most popular one. It is the perfect place not only for shopping, but also for entertainment in Kharkov.

In the Kharkov mall you have a nice opportunity to visit the food hypermarket and the fancy boutiques to buy the things from the last fashion collections of the famous brands. You can have a new hairstyle in a hairdressing salon and choose the gems and perfumery, cosmetics and household appliances. Besides the traditional boutique gallery, Karavan mall offers to visit furniture hypermarket, where you can see the designer furniture along with that produced by Ukrainian and foreign manufacturers.

Another important event of the day was the meetings H.E. Udayanga Weeratunga, Ambassador of Sri Lanka had with the Governor of Kharkov Honorable Mr. Mikhail M. Dobkin and Mayor of the Kharkov Mr. Gennady A. Kernes . During the meeting the dignitaries exchanged views on cultures of countries, bilateral relations, tourism industry and many other topics. The Sri Lankan envoy explicitly explained the governor and mayor on the “Maga Tourism Caravan” and other tourism promotional campaigns conducted in CIS countries.

Today, at the shopping mall many a handicraft produced by the State owned Gift and Souvenir Boutique “Laksala” were displayed thus attracting large number of visitors to the Sri Lankan stand. Established under the National Skills Act of 1982 this renowned Gift and Souvenir Boutique operates through ten branches located island wide and offer the widest variety of all Sri Lankan products at a reasonable price. Most importantly, Laksala enables the numerous industries that supply goods to it to stay both profitable and in business.

Another major attraction during the activation was the tantalizing dancing performance of the Sri Lankan Dancing troupe. The Perehara which travelled through the mall was also highly taken up by the gathering. Distribution of booklets, leaflets, T shirts and gift packs too were carried out at the venue. Here also the liquid tea service organized by the embassy served more than one thousand visitors.
