Transport – Most hotels/ guest houses will pick you up for free from the local bus or train station, if advance warning is given.

Facilities – All accommodation, even the low budget establishments give visitors an attached private bathroom. Most low land area establishments will give you a fan and in the hill country offer visitors hot water.

Room rates - Lower-end establishments reflect Sri Lanka’s bargaining culture. Most establishments do not have single rates and will offer you the option of half-and full-board rates. Prices are seasonal, in many hotels.

Taxes – Many establishments charge a serve charge of 10% while some include a Government Service Tax of 10%. These could be added to food and drink.
